It was a good thing that Gran came, because when we finally got to the hospital last night, the triage tech told us that Emily was already 6-7 cm, Caroline was coming! Unfortunately, Johnson City is in the process of opening up a big, beautiful, new hospital that from all accounts more closely resembles a vacation resort than a hospital. As part of the process, the old hospital was closed and patients diverted to Johnson City Medical Center where we had Lily, and were presently seeking a little help for Caroline. Because of the additional patient load, they almost didn't have room for us! We did get a room however (for no other reason than Caroline was coming soon!) in the form of an auxiliary room that is usually used for ultra sounds. It was a bit smaller than most of the rooms, and didn't have a shower or window, but other than that it was just as nice.
As we've come to expect from the Med Center, the staff has been outstanding! They cleared out a room in the night and allowed us to migrate into it around 3 or 4 in the morning. So Caroline got to wake up in her mother's arms to the light of her first sunrise, can't ask for a sweeter morning than that.
The excitement will continue today as Gran will be arriving with Lily soon. Apparently Lily is a fountain of cuteness in her anticipation of her new younger sister. Also, Nana and Papa have decided to swing by briefly as part of a week long change in latitude.
