Halloween Hunny

It's that time again, and the same question regarding costumes was asked this year, as last. "What in the world will this child tolerate?" For starters Nothing on the head, so for this age group that eliminates about 99% of the options (especially the cute ones). So I ended up making her this honey pot, with the idea that we would suspend a bee over her head.....well that really didn't fly either (no pun intended). So, as you see in the pic below the bee was relegated to a parental accessory.

We had so much fun walking around with Lily. We visited the Tree Streets (for those of you who know Johnson City) for our trick-or-treating. It's a wonderful atmosphere with everyone dressed up and sitting out on their front porches. Towards the end Lily really got the hang of it and was reaching in the baskets full of candy and signing "Thank you" as we left. She was such a trooper and she loved watching all the other children.

Stopping to taste the loot, through the wrapper that is..

There's just nothing like the first taste of chocolate...with rice puffs....

Taking a quick break before heading back out....

Yes, we hear you Kramer. My question is, if your thoughts are so worth hearing, why must you yell them??

Better than Coffee: Mama's Morning Fix

Here are some more Lily pictures.....this morning, she started out by hitting herself on the head with her hammer again. I presume this was the equivalent of "pinching herself" just to be sure that she wasn't dreaming that she had yet another day with the DDC. Then we set about doing our morning post, and she insisted on helping, so she did!

The New Business Casual

I understand that there is some concern out there about whether Lily is being properly dressed, since it is solely up to her father. Well, I am here to put your minds at ease, just check out these great outfits from the last two days!

Gypsies in the Palace

Well, as you are probably aware, I am able to tap the incredible library of poetry that most call Jimmy Buffett's repertoire and find a song lyric for almost any occasion. This time, Lily, the Boys and I find ourselves TEMPORARILY (thank God) without the glue that holds our family together.....namely Emily. She is in Atlanta taking one of her medical board examinations, and we are left up here all by ourselves until Tuesday night. So, some slightly altered lyrics from Jimmy Buffett's "Gypsies in the Palace".....

So long Boss, knock 'em dead, don't worry 'bout a thing
Wish that we could come along, we'd love to see you earn your bling,
The limo's here, your bags are packed, the list is by the phone,
Me and Lils will watch your place and treat it like our own

Look at all this Gerber
Look at all this food
It's only gonna go to waste
We're not really being rude
But the good stuff's in her closet, I swear she wouldn't mind
Hell, we''ll just shoot the lock off, I do it all the time

We're gypsies in the palace, she's left us here alone
The order of the sleepless knights will now assume the throne
We ain't got no money, we ain't got no fight
But we're gypsies in the palace, we got it all tonight

And finally, some pictures for the Mama who is most likely missing her baby girl....and yes, she got in the laundry basket all on her own!

Pickin' Apples

We had a great time with Anna and Mary Hudson, this weekend...Thanks for the apples!!

As a quick addition - Lily and I went to Wofford Homecoming this same weekend - and here are a few pics from that. All in all the babies were great sports and I think had a lot of fun!

Pumpkin Patch

We visited Stickley Farm today to enjoy their corn maze and pumpkin on the vine pumpkin patch. The corn maze was quite extensive and impressively designed.... (see above picture, or website)
Best of all, to help guide our way, we had a companion we coined "Buddy." Lily and "Buddy" became fast friends. The maze was also 'interactive' by challenging us to find a series of checkpoints along the way. Here we are at the first of many..

Finally, here's Lils in the pumpkin patch....these were the real deal, none of those vain, pretty, sparkling clean pumpkins, nope these are from the other side of the pumpkin tracks, and we found just the right one to take home.
