Poetry from a Former Student

I occasionally teach econ classes for a bible college located in Simferopol, Ukraine. This is a poem written by one of my former students, Violetta Alimova. She is a thoughtful person, I enjoyed her poem so much I am sharing it with you.

Waking up with morning streams of sun
They sluggishly begin another day.
And leaving houses one by one,
All seem to go one and the same way…
…to squeeze in a trolleybus by any means,
Here is where fun begins!
Racing down the bumpy roads,
It is creakily breaking all possible traffic codes.
Meanwhile a woman dressed in a fur coat
is lecturing a girl in mini skirt,
While a man after a good feast
is sleeping peacefully and very pleased.
And look at people walking down the street,
shining, gloomy, slovenly and so neat;
with open arms and with dislike,
they are so different and very much alike.
And it’s just a few minutes of the trip,
Some things are surely better to skip…
But every free minute I have at my disposal
I get to know this different but so lovely Simferopol!

Easter

Dying Easter eggs....excited for the big day!
Family picture outside of Grandview
Flat tire on the way to lunch at the Farmer's Daughter....fortunately the Black Pearl is a spectacularly easy car to fix a flat on (it even told me the tire was flat!)  Even more fortunately, I had some good help changing the tire!

Getting ready for the big Easter egg hunt in the back yard!
Sharing :)
Always watchful....this time Gator has his eyes peeled for overlooked Easter eggs

Easter in Wytheville

Emily was working today, and Nana and Papa were passing through our latitude on the way back from a beach trip, so CJ, Lily and I decided to meet up with them in Wytheville for a pre-Easter celebration. The festivities began with a trip to Cracker Barrel for lunch....judging by the clean plates, we were all big on that decision. Then we found a great little Vistor's Center there that had lots of grass and few cars. Lily got a wheel barrel for Easter, and CJ got a new doll. Big props to Nana and Papa for electing bags of goldfish crackers instead of candy for Easter treats. Here are some pictures from the afternoon.
