The Garden - 60 days in

On a quick trip back to Johnson City, Lily helped me inspect the garden. I think that there are beans in there, probably sunflowers too, but its hard to tell given the absolute dominance of the corn right now. I did see pumpkin vines growing on the fence and corn stalks....that should be interesting in a few weeks as the pumpkins get bigger. It remains to be seen if the popcorn will actually grow, but it was supposed to take 120 days to mature, and we're only halfway there right now. With the way the garden is looking right now, I'd say that I am optimistic!

Summer Time

Emily made strawberry cakes in an ice cream cone for CJ's birthday....add a scoop of ice cream on top and they're delicious!
All smiles from the taste testers :)
Pictures from a visit to the SciWorks Museum. It is quite a diverse and extensive place, we've had a lot of fun exploring!

CJ at 2

Our sweet little CJ is growing into quite a little personality. At the cusp of her second birthday, the biggest thing happening with her is her expanding vocabulary. She is very excited to be using words and has no inhibitions about raising her voice to get our attention. Here are some of her favorites: Mama, Dada, GG, Bubba, Home, Sit!, bee-bee (baby), bee (her bee pjs), Nana, Papa, cheese, Gan, please, bye-bye, yes!, what? and her favorites so far mine! and no!

Emerald Isle

The girls and I were fortunate enough to have spent the last week at the beach with Nana & Papa, Uncle Dave and Aunt Patsy, Karen, Jody, Payton, Carly, Chip, Ashley, Jackson and Grier....yes, it was a full house! And it was also a fun house, we had a bunch of fun hanging out with the Waugh crew. New toys!...well, new to CJ at least...
CJ just couldn't get enough of her Daddy this week.....DA-DA!!!
J-dub, CJ and Lily clowning around on the couch.
Nana getting to know baby Grier.
Uncle Dave chillin....one of the few moments you'll ever see him at the beach without a fishing rod in his hands!
Papa and J-dub
We had some big storms while we were at the beach....it was amazing to watch them pass across the sound.
Nana, Payton, Carly and Lily posing on the couch for a lovely picture.
The couch a few moments before that last picture....who's causing the trouble here?!?

Visit to Downington Estate

What does it say about a gardener when his garden does the best it has ever done the year that he leaves!?! Popcorn, squash and beans exploding in lush green growth!
The boys remembering the backyard.

Tanglewood Park on the Fourth

Tanglewood Park is only 20 minutes away from us. It is a fairly big public park....but is especially fun because of the aquatic center they have. There is an area with no standing water that just has water fountains and water jets (great for CJ's age). There is also an area with similar fountains and jets of water that is in a wading pool....Lily liked this area best. What did I like the best? The price.....as much time as you want at a water park for $6/person (and you can bring in your own food and drinks).
