Granny Campbell

Even though it has been a couple of years since Granny was really with us, this was the first Christmas for the family without her.  She was missed.

One of the *many* amazing things about Granny was her ability to keep everything she ever received that related to her kids and grandkids.  It turns out that Granny knew way more about me than I could even remember!  Many of the letters, pictures and momentos I had sent to her over the years came back to me recently.  These treasures, combined with our new all in one printer, gave me the opportunity to do some scanning and posting!

You may not recognize this as Bridgeforth Stadium at JMU.

Ahh....the woody, tailgating at the game.  The small propane grill seen here (circa 1995) was most recently used at a tailgate between VT and Wake Forest!  Good investment Papa!

Week 20: Turkey week

We'll fill you in shortly on the details, but we had a great Thanksgiving with Great Granny, Nana, Grandad, Uncle Chipper and Aunt Ashley. As you can see in the picture, Lily was practicing for next year.

The Don

Lily participated in a great many adventures this past weekend, one of which was to meet the "head of the family" for the first time. Don Granny, as she is affectionately known, is the reigning matriarch of the Campbell Clan. And she was most excited to meet her new great granddaughter Lily. Incidentally, the Don has 5 grandchildren, and Lily becomes her 8th great grandchild. We stopped to visit Granny both going up to Northern Virginia on Friday night, and on the way back to the JC Sunday afternoon.
As you can see in the picture to the right, Lily took to the Don immediately. Granny is also known for her ability to rock her babies to sleep (something both Chip and I can readily attest to), while Lily is not asleep in the picture below, she is still enjoying the ride!
